School-based and school-linked health centers provide services to children and adolescents inside or nearby Illinois’ elementary, middle, and high schools.
Illinois had 61 licensed school-based or school-linked health centers in 2016. Of these centers, 16 (26%) either provided comprehensive dental services on-site or offered a mix of on-site and referral services. This exceeded the HealthyPeople2020 target by 19 percentage points.
